Participants in the annual Kushi Matsuri (comb festival - 櫛まつり) are walking towards the Kushizuka (a comb grave mound) to attend a purifying and memorial service at the Yasui Konpira-Gu (安井金比羅宮) in Kyoto. All the traditional hair styles, from the ancient times to the present day Maiko are represented. The hair styles are made with natural hair and require very skilled techniques to implement. Every year members of Kyoto Beauty Culture Club recreate these traditional Japanese hairstyles.
