As 2014 draws to a close, Shrines and temples are busily preparing for the influx of people that will come to pray and buy lucky charms for the new-year. Many Shrines in Kyoto have large ema tablets with the new-years zodiac sign displayed in their precincts. We will take a look at some of these shrines. 2015 is the year of the sheep (羊-Hitsuji). The kanji character for sheep came from the shape of a sheep's head with two horns, four legs and a tail. People born in the year of the sheep are elegant, highly accomplished in the arts, passionate about nature. They are deeply religious and passionate in whatever they do and believe in.
