Yesterday, while cycling around the Saidaiji area of Nara, I visited the Kikō-ji Temple (喜光寺). This old temple, dating back to 721 AD is also known as Sugawara-dera. Kikō-ji Temple was founded by Priest Gyoki (行基). The Hondō (本堂) of the Kikō-ji Temple was rebuilt in the early Muromachi Period (14th Century). Lotus in pots are in full bloom from the end of June to the beginning of August.
